The Popular Corky Cookman started his racing career at the Danbury Racarena, before moving on.  Corky was one of the drivers to run the NASCAR Modified Tour in its first year of existence.

Probably Corky's biggest win came on August 6, 1982 winning the Stafford Speedway Manchester Oil Heat 100.

Popular with both the fans and drivers, Corky lost his life in a racing accident at the Thompson, CT. Speedway.
